Every. Single. Morning. We have eaten a bowl of cornflakes for breakfast for the past 45 mornings without fail. Not once have I eaten something else or skipped out on having them. My day just wouldn’t be the same without them. I didn’t think they were anything special at first, but as the weeks went on I discovered a love for them. A love that turned into a craving. I wake up in the morning stoked because I know a bowl of cornflakes awaits me. Now I can’t imagine not having them to kick start my day…. It would be tragic! My entire day would be off if I didn’t have my cornflakes. They have become a part of my life and daily routine. However, there is no way I would have begun to crave cornflakes if I hadn’t eaten them every day and made them a part of my life.
It’s the same with my walk and my quiet time with the Lord. Throughout this trip I have learned to develop a very consistent time to be with the Lord. I’ve been learning what it means to be disciplined in my walk. I’ve discovered the value in daily time set apart to be with Him. Now I can’t go a day without Him, because a day without time spent in His presence is waisted. There’s no point to it. If I can’t find time to spend with the one who gives me my breath, then I need to cut out some dead weight in my life. Time alone with Him daily needs to be my top and only priority. Everything else is meaningless.
Day by day my craving to spend time with Him has grown more and more just like my craving for cornflakes. I desire to see what He will teach me through His word, what He will show me through prayer, and what He will speak to me during worship. Just like my morning bowl of cornflakes, He fills me up. He renews me and speaks life into me.
Don’t miss out on those morning cornflakes.
