First, the Lord has blessed me with a wonderful team! I’m so honored to have two great team leaders, Dan and Sophia, and nine girls!! Excited to grow in loving each team member.
This past week at training camp has been so good for my heart. Sometimes I think that we, as Christians, can love God with our minds but neglect Him with our hearts. I got a chance to offer my heart to the Lord, letting Him search out the secrets, burdens and fears that I have needlessly carried.
Two mornings ago, I woke up with fear. I was afraid of going to Honduras. Afraid of going and not being used by Jesus. Afraid of not seeing God move in His might and power. Afraid of being disappointed. I brought it before the Lord, and I believe He led me to His conversation with Moses in Exodus 3-4.
The Lord told Moses to go to Egypt to bring His people out. I believe Moses reacted in fear. He responded, "Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?" (Ex. 3:11). The Lord responded, "I will be with you…" Moses later said, "But behold, they will not believe me, for they will say, 'The Lord did not appear to you.''' (4:1). The Lord offered Moses signs for proof. Still, Moses insisted, "I'm not eloquent… I am slow of speech and of tongue." (4:10) The Lord responded, "Go, and I will be with your mouth and will teach you what you shall speak." Despite this, Moses said, "Lord, send someone else." … The Lord's anger, understandably, was kindled. Yet He was still going to send Moses.
Have you had the Lord call you to something greater? He always does. Maybe He’s nudging you about a certain Bible verse that needs to be obeyed, a sin to leave behind, a dream that needs to be realized, a desire to be lived out, or a relationship that needs to be pursued. He calls us to live for eternity, not for the temporary. How have you responded to His voice? If you are like me, you may answer back with fear, saying, "Oh Lord, not me. I'm not spiritually strong enough, not capable, not worthy… I don’t have what it takes!"
The Lord responds TO YOU and says, "I am with you. I will be with your mouth and show you what to speak. I'm with your hands, enabling you for the task I've called you to." We have a God who goes with us; will you say, “I don’t know what will happen, but I trust you”?
Jesus, I let go of fear, and I will trust you.
