3 Lessons From Mama Gracie

1) Relationships- Gracie has taught me so much about creating relationships. It is truly incredible to watch her go run “errands”, which involves, praying over a sick women, stopping to talk to a street boy, checking up on a house because she felt The Lord was telling her to, and many more things. She always says, “forget about the todo list, that’s all just stuff, forget about time, nothing is more important them talking to that one person in that moment!”
2) Boldness- Mama Gracie told us this story about how one day during Christmas time she was at Walmart back in the States and she was in a huge line of ppl to check out. When she got up to the cashier she noticed something was off about her and she felt The Lord was telling her to talk to her and pray for her. So that’s exactly what she did. Even though there was a long line of people impatiently waiting, she didn’t care! While she was telling that story I told her that I would Be too afraid to do that because of what all those people in line would think of me, she said “who cares what they think! If you’re a Christian, people BETTER be talking about you. There are witnesses all around you, maybe it will make them pray for someone in Walmart one day!” That cashier ended up telling her that her mom was having surgery and her boss wouldn’t give her that day off, she said that she was about to quit that job so she could go be with her mom. But she didn’t because Gracie took the TIME to pray for her. Gracie helped this women get through her day.
Hebrews 12:1 says, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has put before us.
Jesus talked to the people nobody would, Jesus didn’t care what others thought of him, Jesus was BOLD!
3) Time with your Father- Mama Gracie challenged my team to all spend 1 hour sitting by ourselves outside with nothing. No phone, no music, no bible, no journal, no book, nothing! Just you and God. This was very foreign to me because when I think of spending time with The Lord I think reading the bible or worshiping (which are both great) but there is something so peaceful and intimate about embracing just his presence. It’s easy to forget the focus when you have so many distractions. I spent that time just listening to him and talking to him, I didn’t ask for anything, I just talked to him as if my dad and I were sitting down having a conversation. It sounds weird, but that how it should be!
