A Working Father

Jesus once said that His Father is always working and that He too was at work. We have a working Father, a God who is always moving, shaping and transforming in order to glorify Himself. The exciting thing is that we, as Christ followers, are invited to join Him in His work.

My faith has been challenged in many ways this past week. Ministry seemed pretty slow. I woke several mornings with a lie from Satan, "The Lord is not working, He isn't moving." I had slowly allowed a lie into my heart that suggested God was not moving in my life, but the Lord addressed this as I brought it to Him.

The Lord once asked Job, who holds back the waves of the sea, determining their limit? (Job 38:11) In all of God's responses to despairing Job, He answers as the God who is always working as Creator. He is intimately involved in His creation. The Word says that Jesus holds everything together by the Word of His power (Colossians 1:15-17). If God wasn't working, everything would fall apart.

Our team took time one morning to just stop and recognize all that the Lord  is already doing here at Zion's Gate. We saw that God had already given us work to do on the property grounds. That He had completely transformed the community here in the past few years. That we've been completely accepted by the youth at Zion's Gate. Freedom and opportunity in ministry have been completely offered to us through Tony. Some of the street kids we are meeting are being drawn to us. The Lord has spoken some very specific scriptures for us in our prayer and worship, some of those are guiding us in ministry. The Lord is WORKING!

Do you ever feel doubt that the Lord is not working? That He isn't active in your life? Ask Him to open your eyes to see what He's doing. The Father is ALWAYS working. Take some time to recognize and thank Him for what He's already done. Check out Psalm 105;111; and 136.

Let your work be shown to your servants, and your glorious power to their children. – Psalm 90:16
