Thankful for…..Painting :)

This past week, the community here on the property has been vibrant and varied. On Saturday, a World Race squad of almost 60 people joined us here and it has been neat getting to know them and seeing this place come alive as projects on the property have begun. Two World Racers- Liz and Sidney Anne- have really encouraged me and it’s been great getting to know them. Community in other ways too has been neat to witness and experience- I have spent a lot of quality time with Nidia, Tony’s wife, and I also have had much one-on-one time with individuals on the team. One of the ways...

Without Love, I Have Nothing

The Lord has been speaking to me a lot lately about my calling. For the longest time, I knew I was being called to mission work. I am so excited, though, that it is becoming clearer what that means. For a while I thought that meant that I would live in some super crazy place in some far off land having some over-the-top ministry. That is actually not at all what my heart feels anymore. Father God has been taking me deeper into His intentions. I have realized that my definition of missions is a lot different from God’s definition for me. I have learned a lot about the heart that the...

Thankful for……3 year olds :)

July is already here! Last/this week from Friday to Tuesday, we traveled from Tegucigalpa to Copan, a city about 6-7 hours by bus away from the property. One of the boys who lives here at Zion’s Gate, Herman, has family in Copan that our whole group spent the week with. We got to do life with his family, which was wonderful—live in their home, prepare meals with them, help with errands and chores, serve them in whatever way on a day-to-day level, etc. The family was so hospitable- I got to spend several hours with Tia (Aunt in Spanish- Herman’s aunt)- running errands in...

Picture Perfect

To be honest, I was afraid to admit my dreams. I was afraid to share the depth of my passions. I was afraid to desire something that I might not be able to achieve. So I downplayed my desires and tried to make light of the things that the Lord so heavily laid on my heart. What I'm learning however, is that the perfect and everlasting love of God can cast out all of my fears.     Throughout my time here the Lord has made my love and passion for children more and more undeniably clear. My best moments here have all been with children or youth. I know, and can...

Granny

I’ve always wanted to have a Holy Spirit party with a Honduran granny. Last week we spent about three and a half days in the Copan area, in north-western Honduras. We stayed with a little family living in a little village in a little house on the top of a mountain. There was a granny. Abuelita (little grandmother) had not left her bed in five years. Each day I sat next to her and let her talk. I learned a lot about her life. She had many grandchildren, four of which have died, and many of which she has not seen. Her entire body is in pain. She is weak and frail. She is Spirit...

The God of Love

1 Corinthians 13: 1-3 "If I could speak in any language in heaven or on Earth but didn’t love others, I would only be making meaningless noise like a loud gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I knew all the mysteries of the future and knew everything about everything, but didn’t love others, what good would I be? And if I had the gift of faith so that I could speak to a mountain and make it move, without love I would be no good to anybody. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I...
