The God of Peace

“Be still and know that I am God.” – Psalm 46:10 This is the verse that comes to mind when I think about this past week. In short, sometimes when I see what the people here experience and the battles they fight every day, I find myself asking, where is God? And everytime, God answers, “I am here.” God is here is Honduras. The boys who live at Zion’s Gate are walking proof that God is working here and changing lives. One day, Christofer and Honduran Ariel took me and American Ariel on a walk with two other Americans. The two boys climbed up a huge tree to...

Thankful for….the pace of life

The past week has been full and varied and the overarching theme of the week has been “doing life with” those who we come into contact with. We have revisited ministry sites and launched our involvement in the ministry in Los Pinos, a hard, poverty-stricken area that has taken Tony, our contact person and director of Zion’s Gate Ministry, several years to come to the level of access that we have the privilege of taking part in. It has been a blessing to witness part of the harvest of the hard work he has poured into there. Before I get too far though, I wanted to share a...

Kow-a-Bunga!

In my past two updates, I’ve been pretty serious; with this post, I just want to update all of you on the ministries that we have been apart of and what our current plan is.             As of today, we have over two full weeks of ministry under our belts. During the first week, we were partnered up with the World Race team that is staying in the same place we are. During this time, we took part in several different ministries. I was privileged to lead worship at an Alcoholics Anonymous...

Flying a Kite

My leader Sarah had a vision of someone flying a kite. God is the person, I am the kite, and the wind is the Spirit of God directing me wherever He wants me to go. The Lord is constantly reminding me that He is the wind; without Him, I’m completely limp and unable to do anything of significance. If I was not here the wind would still blow. I have a choice now to either get caught up in the current of the Spirit or to labor by my own strength. Sometimes I feel like there are so many obstacles between me and what the Lord is doing in Honduras. There are ministries, organizations,...

Learning Experiences

This past week I learned a lot about myself and what God has been trying to teach me. We went into a very impoverished area of Honduras and cleaned out a home so that a few people might be able to live in a sanitary home. The house was very basic, 4 walls and 2 doors. No bathroom or kitchen, nothing. I started to realize just blessed I really am. I have been taking so many different things for granted. For example, just the simple idea of electricity. We went to bed that night with electricity and in the morning it had been turned off. I asked...

With Great Delight…

"With great delight I sat in his shadow and his fruit was sweet to my taste" Song of Solomon 2:3   Like never before, I have been blessed with the opportunity to sit in His shadow. Over the past weeks, which it's hard to believe that I've been gone for that long, I have had the unprecedented opportunity to live with, for, and about His presence and will alone. I have lived with God and for God in deeper ways than ever before. Sleeping outside under a tarp, sleeping on a concrete floor with only a thin foam pad and my sleeping bag, living on a property with 60...
