Be Intentional

Yesterday my team went into Talanga, Honduras to run errands with our host. She had a list of things that had to be done. But this didn’t stop her from talking to everyone. She didn’t just ask “Hey, how are you?” and then not care about the response. She truly wanted to know how they were.

We prayed for an abuela (grandma) in the market who had been having leg pain for over a month. People were watching, and they were able to see that something was different about us. She intentionally buys one thing from different stands so that she able to get to know different people. . On the way back to the ministry site, we passed a family that had been kicked out of their house and forced to live in tents. She pulled over and took the time to ask them about their story and see if she could help. Everyone here knows who she is because she takes the time to care

In America, everyone is always in a hurry and we don’t always care how someone’s day is going. Take time to truly listen and encourage people throughout your day. You may never know how much you taking a couple minutes to listen has encouraged a person.

Be intentional. Don’t be afraid to look different. Jesus didn’t pray for people in private. In Matthew 14, Jesus “saw a great crowd and he had compassion on them and healed their sick.” He loved people unconditionally whether he was in a crowd or in a private place.
