Thankful for….the little things (that bring so much joy)

In John 10:10, the Lord says, “…I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it abundantly.” In these past days of being here in Honduras at Zion’s Gate Ministry, the Lord has shown this to be so true. It’s the little things, seemingly insignificant things that have been the most life-giving moments. We have been getting to know the property first and the boys that live here….and our contact has been so good at easing us into the various ministry sites that we will be at in the coming weeks.

You’re bound to hear specifics of the ministry locations as we become more acquainted with each—street ministry, INFA home for girls, prison ministry for youth, trash dump, Los Pinos…….but, here are some of those life-giving little things:

  • Carlos (one of the boys who lives here at Zion’s Gate) and I swapped bracelets. I made him a red/blue/white friendship bracelet + gave him a stretchy one I have in return for a super cool green and red braided friendship bracelet.
  • Cynthia (a girl who visits the compound often) painted my fingernails and toenails for me, French-nail style J We communicated through broken English on her end and very broken Spanish on mine, but had some good laughs and in the later days were able to share more laughs and take fun pictures together
  • Most week days, school children play on the compound as they wait to be picked up by the school bus. I got to braid a little girl named Leli’s hair and talk about princess backpacks and favorite colors and animals
  • On Saturday, we went to a colony and Rebecca and I got to sit and just be with 3 little girls (one of their names was Allie) and Allie’s mom let me hold a 10-month old baby named Anthony. It was so fun just sitting with them, braiding one of the little girl’s hair (yay for French braids lol), bouncing the baby and having fun with face paint

….they may not be world-changing moments, but as a team we trust that the Lord will work through these little things and allow them to overflow with life.
