The God of Peace

“Be still and know that I am God.” – Psalm 46:10
This is the verse that comes to mind when I think about this past week. In short, sometimes when I see what the people here experience and the battles they fight every day, I find myself asking, where is God? And everytime, God answers, “I am here.” God is here is Honduras. The boys who live at Zion’s Gate are walking proof that God is working here and changing lives.
One day, Christofer and Honduran Ariel took me and American Ariel on a walk with two other Americans. The two boys climbed up a huge tree to get mango so we could try them once we got back home. They cut them up and of course added salt, chili powder, and hot sauce to make them taste perfect. Although this might not seem like a big deal to most people, considering where these boys were a year or two ago, this makes this small action so much bigger. These boys are so, so sweet and it’s incredible to visibly see God transforming their lives.
We’ve been in Honduras for almost 3 weeks now. It’s been so good to get to know my team and the boys at Zion’s Gate so much better. God is teaching me so much about Himself. Between Fernando hugging me and saying “te quiero muuuuuuucho” 247, and spending time with sweet Carlito in Los Pinos, I have a heart full of happy. I wouldn’t change a thing about this summer.
