Hello everyone! A quick update for you all. We arrived in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, on Tuesday. We met our host, Tony, and rode with him up part of a mountain to Zion's Gate.
When I arrived at Zion's Gate, I was shocked. We were met by boys and girls who live on the property. It was like a mini haven for all children who desired to live there. Probably 15-20 kids live there. Many of the kids were living on the streets, eating out of dumpsters and trash piles. Some were addicted to drugs and paint thinner. But at Zion's Gate, these children have found a refuge, a safe place to grow and find abundant life in Christ. I cried when I heard the stories of Jesus has redeemed and is redeeming this place and the people who live here.
We have the privilege of living at Zion's Gate for two months. Some of us are tenting out (like Dan and me). We live with and play with the children every day… I'm shot with dart guns often 🙂 This week we have simply been building relationships with everyone at Zion's Gate, praying and dreaming about what ministries we're going to do here. Tony has given us total freedom to create ministry opportunities here at Zion as well as in the city, according to our gifts and the promptings of the Lord. We also will be going out, reaching out to the kids on the streets. It's the beginning of a journey.
My heart's desire is for these kids to encounter Jesus and be changed forever through a real relationship with Christ. Please pray for open hearts, for opportunities, and for Christ's love to compel us.
