Right Where I Need To Be

Ever since my first missions trip, I’ve always had a passion for serving in 3rd world countries. More specifically, I really felt drawn to serving in villages where the people are in their native environment. I never felt called to serve in an orphanage or women’s home. When I found out that I was going to be living and serving at a refuge home for abused children and women for 2 months this summer, I was taken back a little bit. That wasn’t what the description for the trip said and it wasn’t what I wanted at all. However, I knew that God was going to use me and my...

A Step Into Freedom

Freedom is a choice. We can choose to walk in freedom or stay captive within the lies of the enemy. Passport training camp is a place where God revealed to me some things that I needed to surrender to Him and some lies that had to chained me down. From the first moment I stepped off of the plane in Atlanta I was overcome by a title wave of fear and insecurity. I began to question and doubt myself and my choice to go on this trip to Honduras. Satan struck hard at me with lies about being unqualified, weak, and alone. Shortly into training camp I came very close to giving in and...

Training Camp Did Good

Going into training camp, I was definitely nervous and a little excited, but not as much as I should of been. Before it even started I was wishing it was already over. After all the anticipation and waiting for the trip to finally come, I was so ready to be in Honduras that I didn’t even think about what training camp would do for me. Well of course, what I thought wouldn’t be a good time, ended up being a huge growing experience for me. It’s just another reason why I need to trust what the Lord is doing for me. Right away we were thrown right into it with staying in...

Be Intentional

Yesterday my team went into Talanga, Honduras to run errands with our host. She had a list of things that had to be done. But this didn’t stop her from talking to everyone. She didn’t just ask “Hey, how are you?” and then not care about the response. She truly wanted to know how they were. We prayed for an abuela (grandma) in the market who had been having leg pain for over a month. People were watching, and they were able to see that something was different about us. She intentionally buys one thing from different stands so that she able to get to know different...

Water, Water, Water

I can’t seem to get away from water. I go to Texas (which was supposedly in a drought) for a month before my missions trip and it rained just about everyday. I mean the state is practically under water. The first night of training camp, it stormed really bad and our tented flooded. So, a lot of my clothes, suitcase, book bag, journal, sheets, and mattress all got wet. Let’s just say, it wasn’t the best way to start off my 2 month adventure. Upon arriving at Honduras, our host, Gracie, informs us that Honduras has also been in a drought. Well, I definitely got poured on in...

I’m WEAK!

This week, our team visited some local high schools in honor of One Nation One Day. Seeing as how Honduras is referred to as “the fatherless nation" and my team knew stories of how I could relate, I felt led to share the testimony of how God has shown Himself to be my father and what it means to be His daughter. I was super nervous at the idea of talking in front of a classroom full of Honduran teens, let alone doing it twice. In Spanish. So I got Kalynn (a fluent teammate) to translate for me the first time, but something felt off. I felt like a robot...
