Dearest parents, siblings, roommates, pastors, friends, classmates, supporters, and others back home: What a privilege and honor it has been to serve here at Heart of Christ this summer! We’ve seen, smelled, heard, and ate things beyond our wildest imaginations- and suddenly, two months are up and soon we’ll be headed home! We sure are excited for hot showers, pizza, and our own beds, not to mention embracing each one of you again at the airport, church service, or wherever else we see you SO SOON! On July 6th, our host, Gracie, called me in after devotions and told me she had a word for me. She told me that during devotions she just kept seeing a black, dark spot in my near future. She didn’t know anymore about it besides that it would be the hardest thing that I have had to face. She told me I needed to prepare and if I didn’t I would have a really rough time making it through. This past week, The Lord has really been teaching our team a lot about joy through the avenue of cultivating gratefulness. The book “One Thousand Gifts” (one you should check out if you’ve yet to read it) has been making its way across the team, along with some participant-led team times relating to this subject.
