Living God’s Word and Remote Control Cars

A few days ago, after teaching at the school in the morning, I wanted to spend more time with the Lord. I took my Bible outside and sat down. Across the way, I saw Carlos playing with a remote control truck. Carlos is a a 15 year old boy who used to live life on the streets. I had been wanting to connect with him. I believe that the Lord prompted me to go play with Carlos. I hesitated; I wanted to spend time with Jesus alone on the Word. I finally set my Bible down and went over to play with Carlos. As we were playing and creating ramps for his truck, I felt a sense of peace and fellowship...

Week One

Where do I begin? How do I fittingly put into words the significance of week one of ministry? God has moved, answered, accomplished, protected, and remained.  Ministry at the school down the road from Zion's Gate began this week, which entailed a group of 11 of us teaching 22 6th graders English.  Each of us team members are teaching about 2 students each, allowing us to begin building solid relationships with them. I'm excited to see how God works in and through that ministry. During the middle of the day, after teaching English in the morning, each team member began...

All Things to All People

One of the great things about being at Zion's Gate is that there are so many different types of ministry available to do. There are relationships to build, English classes to teach, construction projects on the property, street ministry, you name it. It has been really great to just watch everyone on the team start to find their niche.  I got to do a lot of work on the property this week. We have a number of  projects going on at once right now, which is cool because there's a lot to be done and we can see a lot of progress being made at once.  Right now the main...

Pray without Ceasing

This has been our first week of real ministry work here in Honduras, and it has definitely taught me and stretched me in ways I wouldn't have thought. The three main ministries we are working on are English classes at the school, working on the property, and street ministry in La Kennedy. At 8:40 we go to the school to teach English to the sixth graders. We each have two students who we are working with for the rest of the time that we are here. I have to girls named Annie and Yennifer. They are extremely smart, and I am excited to keep working with them. We went to school on Monday,...

A Working Father

Jesus once said that His Father is always working and that He too was at work. We have a working Father, a God who is always moving, shaping and transforming in order to glorify Himself. The exciting thing is that we, as Christ followers, are invited to join Him in His work. My faith has been challenged in many ways this past week. Ministry seemed pretty slow. I woke several mornings with a lie from Satan, "The Lord is not working, He isn't moving." I had slowly allowed a lie into my heart that suggested God was not moving in my life, but the Lord addressed this as I brought...

Giving into His Hands

I am in Honduras! Praise The Lord! So the past few days at Zion's Gate have been truly incredible. The leader here has given us the first few days to get used to the property before we start all of our ministry. I have been able to rest in The Lord and prepare my heart for the incredible mission to come. With that said I think my team would agree that there have been some times that we didn't really have anything to do. The kids are in school and there is only so many times that you can walk to the pulperia ( a locally owned shop on the street). So yesterday when Louis (one of...
