Our First Week!

Hey everyone! This past week has been a whirlwind. We had four days of training camp to prepare us for the field and to get to know our team. God has been so good in answering my prayers for team unity. There are eleven of us, and we have an awesome mix of different personalities and gifts that I believe will serve us well in the field. We arrived at Zion’s Gate in Honduras on Tuesday after about 48 hours of little to no sleep, but even though I was exhausted God just gave me an amazing sense of peace when we arrived on the property and it has been great to see the work that God is...

Redemption of a son of God

This is my Honduran brother. His name is Rony. He's nineteen years old and is the oldest of the children living at Zion's Gate with Tony. He found Jesus Christ about two months ago. He was living in rebellion, addicted to drugs and getting into fights on the streets, but Jesus was calling him. He had known of Jesus Christ, and at one point felt the Lord calling him to leave behind his lifestyle. He was hearing Jesus' voice, calling him to repent and to turn to Christ. He felt the Lord in his heart, prompting him to pray to come near to Christ. Rony found Jesus, or, was found by...

Zion’s Gate

Hello everyone! A quick update for you all. We arrived in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, on Tuesday. We met our host, Tony, and rode with him up part of a mountain to Zion's Gate.  When I arrived at Zion's Gate, I was shocked. We were met by boys and girls who live on the property. It was like a mini haven for all children who desired to live there. Probably 15-20 kids live there. Many of the kids were living on the streets, eating out of dumpsters and trash piles. Some were addicted to drugs and paint thinner. But at Zion's Gate, these children have found a refuge, a safe place...

We’re here!

Hey Parents, Friends, & Family! I wanted to let everyone know that we are here in Honduras! Our bus left at 9am from Taccoa Falls College for the Atlanta airport and our first flight was at 8:20am to Miami, and then to Tegucigalpa. (The Tegucigalpa runway really is short!) We were greeted by our host friend family for the next 2 months of this summer. Tony showed up as we left customs, we never even had to call him. When we came out of customs, we were all surprised to see 11 hand decorated posters with all of our names written on them, held by a bunch of kids...

He Goes With You

First, the Lord has blessed me with a wonderful team! I’m so honored to have two great team leaders, Dan and Sophia, and nine girls!! Excited to grow in loving each team member. This past week at training camp has been so good for my heart. Sometimes I think that we, as Christians, can love God with our minds but neglect Him with our hearts. I got a chance to offer my heart to the Lord, letting Him search out the secrets, burdens and fears that I have needlessly carried. Two mornings ago, I woke up with fear. I was afraid of going to Honduras. Afraid of going and not being used by...

Coming Home

So I recognize that I have not blogged since the end of June. “I don’t exactly feel good about it” (What TV show is this quote from? The end of the quote is “, but he was calling himself a gunshot victim.”), but I haven’t had much of a chance to post any blogs. So please forgive me.   Tomorrow we fly home. Dang. We have already spent two whole months here in Honduras. If I’m going to be honest, this has been the hardest two months of my life, but, at the same time, it has been one of the best experiences of my life. The Lord has caused me to...
